Preview for the match against Tallin

So its time for another mid-week match in the Rozengaarde Sporthal which means only one thing. European Volleyball time! After getting past the last opponent, Sampo Pilavesi, in an exciting golden set in the dark land of Finland, the next challenger in the last 32 of the Challenge Cup is Selver Tallin from Estonia. This team have won the past 5 Estonian League Championships and Schenker League Championships, the latter tournament being a competition consisting of the best teams from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, so they look to be a strong team, judging by the YouTube video of their previous European Cup match (which is the only video we have been able to find of their matches!).

As a team we are full of confidence coming into this Thursdays match, despite the two middle blocker injuries, continuing our undefeated record in the Dutch league with a win away against Prins VCV. The Challenge Cup, however, is a higher level than the Dutch Volleyball League but our last performance in Finland was a level above what we showed in the home match, and despite the pressure of needing to not only win the match but also the Golden Set afterwards, we managed to put in a performance close to our best this season (How can you beat the match against Dynamo in Apeldoorn earlier this year?!).

As always with European Cup matches, it is difficult to make predictions on how the match will turn out. As in any league, all teams change from year to year, and unless teams can find enough video and information on each other in the coming weeks before the match, then it is usually the team that can best make their level on the day and be able to quickly form a strategy against the opponent, that will come away with the win. Of course, that team will be Langhenkel Volley! See you Thursday!

Groeten,

Aden
